Additionally, it forgets if I've set "movie preview" to off (because that confuses my kid when I'm finding things to watch, the way they start small before I choose them) - and I've tried lots of things that say edit /usr/local/etc/rcS from here:
but whatever I do, the rcS file is always the same once I reboot (I save it correctly with vi, I can load it again and see the changes, but if I reboot, it's clean).
All I really want to achieve is a stable shortcut to get to my networked drive. At the moment to achive that, each time I turn the unit on, I have to go to net > my shortcuts > press option > detailed view > bash in the info of the drive > ok it > click it and I'm in - but then poof! It's gone next power up time.
Additionally, I've tried flashing a few firmwares - down to that 02 version people talk about - that worked fine - but bringing it up to the latest one on the patriot list fails every time, saying:
Install Error! Please Reboot!
