I've customized my PBO by following a recipe in the customization mini-guide (http://patriot-box-office.wikidot.com/customizing-the-pbo:a-mini-guide). In particular, I have flashed the "P70R2 megapack" and then set up the PBO IMS Jukebox (with ThumbGen and TViXiE2Playon!HD and so on). I have a collection of DVD ISOs that I store elsewhere on a network share.
I have two ways of playing one of those DVD ISOs. First, I can use the PBO browse menu to locate the share, drill down into it, and select the ISO. Second, I can use the IMS Movie Jukebox to locate the DVD ISO. In the latter case, it's an RSS link to what looks like a local file since the share is mounted. I'm not sure if that's what happens in teh first case.
Anyhow, here's my question/problem/issue. When the DVD is actually launched an playing, the user experience is different for the two cases. I'm trying to figure out why (so that I can make them both like the one that I prefer :-)). I've prowled around a lot of the scripts and XML files and whatnot without seeing anything obvious. In "ps", I see lots of copies of DvdPlayer running; in fact, lots of those copies are running immediately after the PBO bootup. A few cases of DvdPlayer run as "./RootApp DvdPlayer". As far as I have been able to tell from /proc, the running instances of DvdPlayer all come from the same executable and none have any command line arguments.
Here are a couple of examples of differences for the two types of watching a DVD:
When launched from the browse menu, the movies are properly sized to my TV, they respect letterbox, and so on. The enter/select button in the middle of the circle of arrow keys can be used to zoom the image. When launched from the Movie Jukebox, the movies are usually zoomed up somehow (not sure of the exact technique). The enter/select button cannot be used to zoom the image (in fact, I haven't found any way to change the size or aspect ratio of the image).
When playing a DVD from the browse menu, the menu button brings up a reasonable DVD menu that I expect. When playing from the Movie Jukebox, the menu button either does nothing or shows me the "bad button press" graphic.
Who can explain this mystery to me?
