Have you checked OoD's RSS based jukebox ? you are exactly describing one of his templates ;) and it can run smoothly on the PBO (once you dropped the JPG's and used BMP's).

Actually I don't think a keyboard is very hard to implement, as a matter of fact it is indeed implemented and was successfully running on the PBO on the busy box layer, all they need is to modify the interface accordingly, you can certainly capture and render letters from a USB keyboard instead of the soft keyboard currently used for input.
